Sheila is a senior regulatory advisor to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
At NIRO Sheila’s work has been focused on Low Cost Nuclear, NPS EN-7 Siting, Regulatory Engagement and Advanced Nuclear Policy Team Support. Sheila is seconded into NIRO from NNL, where she held the position of Internal Regulator in the Independent Assurance team, with a focus on technical, engineering and business delivery. Within Sheila’s 27 years of experience in the nuclear sector, she has also held the roles of Head of Facilities Strategy Delivery, Technology Commercialisation Manager, Account Director for Waste Management and Decommissioning and Head of Technical for Highly Active Liquor Evaporation and Storage at Sellafield. She has experience of working in the UK and in the USA, and with nuclear site licensees, supply chain companies and universities.
Sheila is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Nuclear Institute.
