Accessibility Statement for the NIRO Website
This accessibility statement applies to niro.org.uk.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
NIRO is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
How Accessible this Website is
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software, though we are currently aware of an issue with the header navigation which is being remediated
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical Information About this Website's Accessibility
NIRO is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-Accessible Content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
- The site-wide header navigation hamburger menu is not operable via keyboard, preventing keyboard-only users from accessing site content. This fails WCAG 2.1.1 (Keyboard). We are treating this as a priority and are actively working to resolve it.
- Some hero sections have inconsistent colour contrast and interactive controls do not meet non-text contrast requirements. This fails WCAG 1.4.11 (Non-text Contrast).
- Some pages contain structural heading issues that affect clarity for screen reader users. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).
We are working to resolve all of the above issues and will update this statement as remediation progresses.
