James Paul is a Technical Advisor to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Prior to joining NIRO, James was a technology manager and technical lead at the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory (UKNNL). James’ expertise is in nuclear fuel manufacturing, with over 10 years of experience in leading research and development programmes to develop fuels with enhanced accident tolerance for light water reactors, coated particle fuels for next generation high temperature reactors and development of a pilot HALEU fuels capability. James also led the advanced fuels core science theme overseeing internal R&D funding to support academic and industrial collaborations both in the UK and internationally. James was also member of the International Advisory Group for the Jules Horowitz Reactor and the IAEA working Group on Fuel Cycle Facilities. James is a member of the IoM3 and hold a PhD in Nuclear Engineering.
