On Friday 1 May 2026, upon receiving positive feedback for a Regulatory Readiness Review and permission from the Office for Nuclear Regulation, Urenco completes its first LEU+ production trial. The trial achieved samples at 7%, demonstrating Urenco Capenhurst’s capability to produce LEU+.
Plans are in the works to make LEU+ commercially available in the near future and it could be transported to fabricators from as early as 2027. This project has been supported by DESNZ’s Nuclear Fuel Fund.
